PRAYER UNDER THE CROSS:

Elders will gather immediately after the service under the cross at the front of the church to pray with anyone who wants to call on the Lord Jesus for His amazing grace, mercy, and love to work His miracles in your life. “...call for the elders of the church, and let them pray...in the name of the Lord...pray for one another...the effective prayer of a righteous man (Christ’s righteousness, not ours!) can accomplish much.” --James 5:14-16

FELLOWSHIP TIME AFTER THE WORSHIP SERVICE:

Today, everyone in the congregation is invited to a fellowship time of coffee and treats following the Worship Service, in the “fellowship hall” (the far right side of the sanctuary). The hostess today will be Sandra McElveen.

SUNDAY EVENING WORSHIP:

Come join us this evening at 6PM for ‘Praise, Prayer, and the Proclamation of God’s Word.’ We will be using the ‘Greatest Hymn book and Greatest Prayer Book’ ever written: The Book of Psalms as we study ‘Jesus in the Psalms.’

OFFICER ELECTIONS:

Please pick up a Nomination Form in the vestibule for Officer elections. Nominations will be taken from Sunday July 25th till Sunday August 29th. We can elect one elder and three deacons.

The Current Session is Pastor Bryan Wright and Ruling Elders Jeff Wiggs, Tom Gyori, Dick Alexander, Mike Larsen & Benton Hobgood. No one is rotating off this year. The Current Diaconate is Michael Faust, Jim Mamoulides, Lee Lukhard, Randy McElveen, & Steve Bowyer. Michael Faust and Jim Mamoulides are completing a three-year term and both men can be reelected.

The Session will report to the congregation the nominees eligible for election in mid-November and the election will be in mid-December.

DEAR CALVARY FAMILY:

Your support, prayers, flowers, meals, visits, wheels and Christ-like love and encouragement to Mary during these last couple weeks, and the years during her battle, meant the world to her; and to Rob, me, Elise, and Mom. God’s good grace and Holy Spirit is in this church, and we give Him the glory and praise for how you have helped us all in the last few weeks ~ Thank you for your prayers and love, Martha & Mary

SUNDAY EVENINGS IN AUGUST:

We will have a Fellowship Supper and Session report on August 22 at 6PM. We will have Sunday Evening Worship on August 1, 8, 15, & 29 at 6PM. Our Sunday Evening Worship will focus on ‘Jesus in the Psalms’ as we study six of the most amazing songs ever written.

FALL MEMBERSHIP/INQUIRY CLASSES:

Please contact Pastor Bryan if you are interested in ‘membership/inquiry’ classes, which are for those who are interested in becoming members at Calvary OR for those who are interested in learning about the Lord Jesus’ Church and Calvary even if you are not planning on becoming a member at this time. Due to busy summer schedules these classes will be in the fall.

NCSU CAMPUS MINISTER NEED:

Chuck Askew, who is the PCA campus minister at NCSU is in the midst of a most serious financial crisis due to lack of financial support for the ministry from individuals and churches. He and the family are in danger of having their support account frozen, which would result in them no longer receiving his paychecks. If you wish to help, then please make your check out to Calvary and note that it is for the Askews’ RUF-NCSU ministry.

ELDERS’ MEETINGS:

  • Business: August 5th at 7:00PM. Prayer/Study TBD.

We are grateful for your prayers.

MINISTRIES:

Let us pray this week for Christian Libraries International (CLI) where our own Martha Carpenter works and others volunteer. Their website describes the ministry: “The mission of CLI is to bring Christ to the imprisoned. Since its founding in 1996, CLI has helped thousands of incarcerated men and women find new hope in the healing powers of Christ. With a small Christian staff and a team of devoted volunteers, CLI maintains a low overhead, ensuring that the bulk of our resources go directly to the prisons we support. Our success depends on the prayers and generosity of individual donors as well as local churches, foundations and Christian publishers.”

MISSIONS:

Let us pray this week for the Minsk Bible College, which is undergoing a period of transition from ‘Campus Crusade’ oversight to ‘SEE Global,’ which will enable the ministry to continue with ‘less overhead’ expenses and with more responsibility for the leadership in Belarus through the leaders in that country. This will enable the ministry to continue in the coming years.

THE PCA:

Let us pray for Colonel Peterson as he provides leadership in the PCA Chaplain ministries which includes chaplains in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

PCA CHURCH & PASTOR:

Let us pray for Christ Our Hope PCA in Wake Forest NC and their pastor Scott Cook and his wife Karen. Pray for former associate pastor Chris Bower and his wife Krista as Chris has accepted a call to serve the Presbyterian Church of Northern Ireland.

UNREACHED PEOPLE:

The ½ million Tai people in Laos.

PRAYING FOR THE POOR:

The 2 ½ million people of Lesotho a small country within South Africa. The mountainous terrain, poor communications, lack of agricultural land, over-population, and conflicts with South Africa have resulted in every increasing poverty.

PERSECUTED CHURCH: Laos

Communist persecution of Christians was especially harsh between 1975 and 1978. Restrictions then eased for a period of time, but in the late 1990s persecution significantly increased and the government is intent on the complete elimination of any Christian presence in the country and have called Christianity ‘the number one enemy of the state.’
