PRAYER UNDER THE CROSS: Elders will gather immediately after the service under the cross at the front of the church to pray with anyone who wants to call on the Lord Jesus for His amazing grace, mercy, and love to work His miracles in your life. “…call for the elders of the church, and let them pray…in the name of the Lord…pray for one another…the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” …James 5:14-16

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE FALL:

MEN’S PRAYER/STUDY: The Men’s Prayer/Study Breakfast Fellowship will resume on Monday September 15th from 6:15 AM to 7:30 AM. We will be continuing our study of the Living in Grace materials.

WOMEN IN THE CHURCH ACTIVITIES:

NC STATE OFFERS wonderful opportunities for cross cultural experience, right here in Raleigh. The Office of International Services (OIS), which assists international students at NC State has two programs that give opportunity to befriend those from other countries and cultures. One program, breaking Bread, is a single meal commitment with an international student. The second, the International Friendship Program is a one-school-year, once-a-month program to develop cross-cultural friendships. Both are simple, low-pressure ways to meet and understand those from other cultures. More information can be found on the OIS website (http://www.ncsu.edu/oisss/programs/) or by calling OIS at 919-515-2961.

YOUTH AT CALVARY ACTIVITIES:

CHILDREN AT CALVARY ACTIVITIES:
Children Ages 3 thru 5th grade are invited to join us for our CAC Sunday Nights beginning tonight at 5:15. We will enjoy singing, Bible lessons, a delicious supper, and games.

FINANCIAL UPDATE: Giving for August: $31,743. Budget need per month: $24,000. Let us thank the Lord Jesus for supplying all of our needs.

MINISTRIES: Let us pray this week for Ken and Carmen Guynn and their grown children Gabriel and Eric. The Guynns served with the Navigators in Maracaibo, Venezuela for many years, but were forced to leave the country due to the political unrest. They are continuing to serve the Lord with Navigators in Raleigh as they focus on making disciples in the Hispanic Community. They are currently going through a financial crisis and need to increase both their monthly support and one-time gifts. If you would like to give a gift, please send a check to The Navigators, PO Box 6000, Colorado Springs CO 80934 and note that it is for Ken and Carmen Guynn #103812. Thank you for praying.

MISSIONS: Let us pray this week for World Relief as they love the poor around the world in the Lord Jesus’ Name. This unique ministry not only brings relief in times of need but equips the poor to learn creative ways to become self supporting. They also administer their ministries through local churches in poor areas throughout the world so that our gifts are truly “churches helping churches love the poor in Jesus’ Name.”

THE PCA: Please pray for Charles Dunahoo as he leads the PCA Christian Foundation Ministry.

PCA CHURCH & PASTOR: Let us pray this week for Sovereign King PCA in Garner and their pastor Gordon Duncan and his wife Amy.

UNREACHED PEOPLE: The 15,000 Jews in the Nation of Georgia.

PERSECUTED CHURCH: INDIA Three more deaths were reported recently in the eastern state of Orissa, where a spate of anti-Christian violence began after suspected Maoists murdered Hindu leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and four of his disciples on Saturday (Aug. 23). The number of people confirmed dead has risen to 21 on the fourth day of ongoing violence in Kandhamal District and other parts of Orissa. The Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) reported that more than 114 anti-Christian attacks have taken place in various parts of the state. “The worst hit are the people in Kandhamal District, where more than 400 churches, more than 500 houses and many Christian institutions have been demolished,” GCIC President Dr. Sajan K. George said in a memorandum to the state governor. Indo-Asian News Service (IANS) reported that three more bodies were recovered today. One body was discovered from Phiringia area and another from Raikia in Kandhamal. “One of them had died on Monday and the other on Tuesday – both died after mobs attacked them,” Kandhamal District collector Kishan Kumar told IANS. “A third person was rescued in a critical condition, but died on Tuesday night in the hospital.” IANS reported that the state administration today issued “shoot-at-sight” orders to police in Kandhamal, as “mobs defied curfew, blocked roads and attacked churches and Christian homes.”

DESTITUTE CHURCH: Let us pray for the 75,000 brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering in the impoverished nation of Georgia, which is currently suffering from the conflict with Russia. The unemployment/underemployment in the small villages in this nation is close to 100%!

SCRIPTURE MEMORIZATION: Acts 17:24-25
‘The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all life and breath and all things.’
